Sam Bankman Friedman is the CEO of 2nd biggest crypto exchange in the world. In 2021 his platform netted 1.02 billion in revenue. So everyone was surprised when during 2022 it had major liquidity problems and to the surprise of the customers, the money deposited in their accounts started to disappear. As it was later uncovered FTX was conducting illegal activities which caused their clients to lose their deposited assets. After the scandal and involvement from the Department of Justice and other authorities, the CEO decided to flee to his penthouse in the Bahamas. After a while, he was arrested and now he is waiting to be extradited to the USA
Cryptocurrency is still an unknown, unregulated ground that is often a place for fraudulent people to conduct scams. Sam B Friedman is a person who stole money from lots of people that's why he should be prosecuted. Crypto has a lot of interesting capabilities but for now, it's just a wild west in which everyone does what he wants. This scandal is the best example of that.
